The title of this tape is also the title of a book by Freeman Dyson, about U.S. and Soviet policies towards nuclear weapons. He discusses, in the purely logical terms that are the only ones generals listen to, what most of us know intuitively, the lunacy of our present policies.
I chose Weapons and Hope for the title of this tape partly because of the emotional effect Dyson's book had on me. In a more abstract sense, Weapons and Hope also reflects my (mostly improvised) attempts to create something of emotional value in a highly technological context.
